ABSTRACT: The Impact of Experiential Learning on Vocational Skill Retention explores how hands-on, practical experiences contribute to the long-term retention of vocational skills among students. This study investigated the effectiveness of experiential learning methods in vocational education. The objectives were: to evaluate the retention rates of vocational skills taught through experiential learning versus traditional methods, to assess the impact of experiential learning on student engagement and confidence, and to identify best practices for implementing experiential learning in vocational programs. A survey design was employed to collect comprehensive data from students, educators, and industry partners, facilitating an in-depth analysis of experiential learning outcomes. A sample size of 250 respondents was selected using a purposive sampling technique to ensure participants with relevant experience and insights were included. The case study focused on the Yaba College of Technology, Lagos State. Findings revealed that experiential learning significantly improved skill retention, increased student engagement, and boosted confidence in applying vocational skills. It was recommended that vocational institutions should incorporate more experiential learning opportunities into their curricula, provide training for educators on effective experiential learning techniques, and establish partnerships with industry for real-world learning experiences.
